Lei Yue Mun Seafood Bazaar

 

Introduction

Lei Yue Mun is located at the south-east of the Yau Tong Industrial Area in Kwun Tong. Consisted of 4 villages, the Lei Yue Mun Village has a history of over 150 years, with a total population of about 4 500. Before the 1960s, villagers were mainly farmers, fishermen and miners. The first seafood restaurant was opened in the 1960s and became a quite successful business. Other fishermen followed the footsteps and Lei Yue Mun has gradually become one of the most famous seafood place in the world, attracting thousands of local and overseas visitors every year.

In 1992, the First Lei Yue Mun Seafood Festival was jointly organized by several seafood restaurants, and its success has made it an annual event. During this Festival, the exhilaration of Cantonese opera performances and lion dances are found in the streets. Restaurants also launch promotion activities to attract gourmets.

Indonesian Cuisine at Yue Man Square

 

Introduction

Located beside the Yue Man Square bus terminal, there is a small Indonesian restaurant, which could hardly be seen but customers are in queue. Its high-quality original Indonesian food could explain it all. The restaurant¡¦s owner is an Indonesian who sells popular dishes like Turmeric Rice, Indonesian Beef Curry Rice, Lamb Satay, Iced Rose Drink, etc. Mini Chicken Stuffed Glutinous Rice Dumpling is also recommended. It is a traditional Indonesian food with its 3-inch length looking like a bamboo shoot. Stuffed with children shreds seasoned with coconut juice, the glutinous rice is wrapped in bay leaves and roasted. You could get very full by just spending about HK$30-$40.

Introduction

Located at the ground floor of Kwun Tong Industrial Centre, this vegetarian restaurant has been providing vegetarian food for over 10 years with more than 100 kinds of delicious vegetarian dishes including noodles and rice. Moreover, they offer  all-you-can-eat buffets on weekdays. Fried crispy milk is recommended by customers. Also, vegetarian barbeque pork, vegetarian lo mei and dessert are very attractive. The famous dried vegetable soup is rich in ingredients and big in size. Cash only, no service charge.

Shanghai Restaurant at Shung Yan Street

 

Introduction

There are several Shanghai restaurants in Kwun Tong. The one located at Shung Yan Street is highly recommended. This restaurant has been supported by lots of gourmets since its opening in 1974. Hand-made dough with secret recipe is used to make lots of delicious and traditional Shanghai buns and dumplings. The famous Sichuan spicy noodle with home-made meat sauce is very attractive. In addition, the extra hot spicy Sichuan-style fry won ton with vegetable and meat, and fried shrimp and egg set with rice and soup are highly recommended too.

Dessert House at Yan Oi Court

 

Introduction

Nowadays, almost every district has at least one unique dessert house. The one located in Yan Oi Court, is the representative in Kwun Tong. It serves seasonal desserts - the chilled Green Bean Coconut Milk with Jelly in summer and the hot Steamed Egg Dessert in winter. Besides dessert, Hot Pot Noodle is another specialty. Inspired by the hot pot cooking method, the Hot Pot Noodle with other ingredients like chicken wings, dumplings and sesame oil is the best way to be served. If you want to eat something at late night, this dessert house is a good choice as it opens till 1:30am.

Introduction

It is not difficult to find Chinese restaurants in Kwun Tong. If you want to find a restaurant in a very accessible location with quality food and at reasonable price, the one located in Kwun Tong Plaza is a good choice. Kwun Tong Plaza is located beside the MTR station and no wonder it is always full at lunch and dinner. The most famous order is the hot pot buffet. Unlimited hot pot ingredients like beef and fish dumpling, drinks like soft drink, beer and sour plum juice are available. If you do not like hot pot, there are still plenty of tasty dishes like seasonal Shanghai crab, fresh pawn, steam rice in bamboo, roasted goose, etc.

When you visit Lei Yue Mun, you should get your friends and yourself some local delicacies such as the traditional Chinese snacks and cakes. The most welcomed snack is honey-coated walnuts. Only a few traditional Chinese cake shops are left in Hong Kong. The several traditional Chinese cake shops around Lei Yue Mun are very popular. These Chinese cake shops sell freshly baked cakes and snacks such as sesame cakes, almond cakes, phoenix cookies, egg rolls, egg rolls with shredded coconut etc.  You have no way to miss them!

Yue Man Square

 

Introduction

Yue Man Square is the centre of Kwun Tong with many eating places, including hand-made noodle shop, fish ball noodle street beside the Yue Man Square Park and restaurants in Bonds Fun City. The hand-made noodle shop offers over 60 kinds of hand-made noodles. The noodles are in good texture and soups are rich in flavor. They are also reasonably priced.  The 5 fish ball noodle shops along the fish ball noodle street are most famous for their good taste and budget price. A restaurant in Bonds Fun City offers congee meal set and the congee is smooth with many ingredients.

Introduction

A Korean restaurant located in Hong Ning Road serves many kinds of fresh and delicious food in its Korean barbecue buffet. Ngau Tau Kok Food Street

 

Introduction

There is a food street in the Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate. The  ¡§dai pai dong¡¨ (street food stalls), Hong Kong-style cafˆms and noodle stalls sell local instant food and snacks. Not only are the food and snacks cheap but they also taste fantastic. The highlight is the milk tea from the Hong Kong-style cafˆms. The milk tea offers extraordinary yet traditional brew with frothy and smoothing blend. The sweet egg tart is freshly baked. How could you resist this taste temptation? Besides, the Food Street will get more and more crowded at night. At dusk, many mobile hawkers start selling an extensive range of local refreshment like sponge cake, smell bean curd, fish meat with lettuce, shark fin soup and so on to attract customers.

Millennium City Phase V ¡V APM

 

Introduction

The new retail shopping mall APM had its grand opening in March 2005 and is now a new trendy dining place in Kwun Tong. Most of the restaurants in APM open till 2:00 am offering international specialties. The cookedDeli by citysuper food court at Level 1 is always jam-packed. It provides 500 seats and has 13 catering outlets, offering food in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian and Chinese styles. The food court opens from 11:00 am to 12:00 midnight.
