In the Urban Renewal Authority’s Kwun Tong Town Centre Redevelopment Project, over a hundred licensed fixed-pitch hawkers stationed at the former Mut Wah Street Temporary Hawker Bazaar and the former Hip Wo Street Hawker Bazaar were involved. In connection with the Project, the Tung Yan Street Interim Hawker Bazaar was built by the URA and officially opened in 2014 as a transitional measure to enable them to continue their businesses before moving to a permanent hawker bazaar in the future. With the completion of "YM2", a designated area "Yue Man Hawker Bazaar" is set up, which is managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, allowing affected licensed hawkers to move in and provide daily necessities. In the brand-new "Yue Man Hawker Bazaar", operators can run their businesses in a cosy environment. Meanwhile, this also preserves and recreates the local characteristics and street culture of Kwun Tong.
